ADTRAN Ambassador Program

For each Fall and Spring semester, ADTRAN selects a student from each university to serve as an Ambassador. Selected students will help market the company and cooperative education to prospective new hires and engineering faculty.

Summer 2006 AmbassadorsEligibility

  • Student must be studying electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
  • Student must have completed at least one work term at ADTRAN before serving
  • Student must be scheduled to be on campus during the term of service
  • Student must demonstrate the ability to balance coursework and extracurricular activities

Selection Process

Upon request, students who would like to be considered must complete an application and submit to ADTRAN's Co-op Coordinator. The deadline for application submission is one week following notice from coordinator. A panel interview with ADTRAN's College Recruiting Team will be scheduled. Professional attire is recommended. All students who apply will receive notice of the decision in writing. University Co-op Offices will be notified as well.

Service Time

The length of service is one semester. Students who have served as Ambassador are allowed to apply for additional terms, but students with no service will be considered first. Ambassadors are only selected for the Spring and Fall semesters. Students who return to ADTRAN the semester after serving as an Ambassador are asked to assist with various activities including tours and faculty/staff visits.

Responsibilities

  • Attend half day workshop at ADTRAN before returning to school to serve as Ambassador
  • Meet with co-op staff on campus immediately upon return and make self available to assist with co-op functions
  • Assist ADTRAN recruiter at university Career Fair
  • Present co-op experience at corporate overview on campus
  • Arrange faculty luncheon and assist engineer with presentation
  • Assist with arrangements for all ADTRAN visits to campus
  • Assist with co-op (and possibly new grad) campus interviews
  • Introduce self to the department chair as an ADTRAN representative
  • Meet with faculty unfamiliar with ADTRAN
  • Attend all presentations or functions sponsored by ADTRAN (i.e. IEEE presentations, cookouts, etc.) and be available to assist
  • Speak to potential candidates about the company and advertise opportunities to learn more
  • Post corporate flyers/posters on campus
  • Conduct tours of ADTRAN to prospective new hires
  • Assist with all functions at ADTRAN attended by a university representative
  • Deliver presentation to selection committee upon return to ADTRAN

Benefits

Students who fulfill the requirements, will receive reimbursement for all book expenses from the semester of service up to $500. The minimum payment is $250. Students must submit the log of activities and a copy of all book receipts to the Co-op Coordinator at the end of the semester to receive payment Students will have opportunities to meet and interact with ADTRAN senior executives and university administration.
