Tuition Assistance
ADTRAN allows co-op students to take one class during a work term at a local university, on-line, or through distance learning. Students are eligible for 100% tuition assistance, including laboratory fees associated with the class. In addition, ADTRAN will reimburse a student for any fee charged by their university for the work experience. Students may receive reimbursement at the conclusion of the work term with the following understanding:
Tuition Reimbursement
At the conclusion of the semester, the student must submit the following to ADTRAN's Co-op Coordinator:
- Schedule that includes student's name or ID, semester and year, course name, and credit hours for course
- Itemized listing of costs
- Document from the university showing the cost of credit hours
- Proof of payment (receipt, copy of check, or copy of credit card statement)
- Grade report demonstrating above a "C" in the course. *Students who fail to score a "C" or better are not eligible for financial reimbursement.*
Book expenses, parking fees, late fees, and other costs not directly associated with the class are not covered by ADTRAN.
If a student is receiving finanical aid from any other source (such as the G.I. Bill), there will be no eligibility for company reimbursement unless financial aid totals less than 100% of tuition and fees. In this case, ADTRAN will coordinate payment with the financial aid plan to provide assistance totaling 100% of tuition and fees. (ADTRAN Employee Handbook, Section 3.7B)
Co-op Fees
The Student must submit an itemized statement from the university listing all fees charged by the university. Proof of payment is required (receipt, copy of check, or copy of credit card statement).
Transferring Hours
Students are encouraged to consult with an Academic Advisor at their university before enrolling in a class in Huntsville. Not all classes will transfer.
Approval For Taking Classes
Students are encouraged to receive ADTRAN's approval to take a class unless the meeting time interferes with the regular work week, Mon-Fri 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. In this case, the student must request permission from their assigned supervisor. Manager's e-mail address will be listed. Students should notify ADTRAN's Co-op Coordinator on their first day of work if they have enrolled in a class.
